Bubbled Abstracts
Bubbled Abstracts is a photo series that is taken with a macro lens along with lens three extensions, that investigates the abstractions of everyday fresh ingredients from grocery stores. In this series I wanted to challenge myself to make something overlooked on a daily basis into an interesting composition that is unidentifiable as to what that object may be, making the viewer take a second look and question what they may be looking at in the different photographs.
During the process of creating this photo series, I used one portable Godox studio light with a softbox attachment, a blue and white backdrop, I would then cut and rearrange the positioning of my subjects, and after dip the subjects into a tub of Sprite fizzy water. The fizz created by the Sprite added an interesting texture to the subject and having each of the different subjects react differently in water as some had pores where the bubbles would seep through and others had seeds or stems that would slightly float in the Sprite.
I wanted to create this photo series that turns everyday objects that we do not think about in our daily lives or give much thought and transform it into something completely different, making that original object unidentifiable, as I wanted to explore the idea of appreciating things we may take for grant and looking at the environment of oneself and giving it new or/and positive outlook to better your own mindset. I decided to choose items like eggs, fruits, and a soft drink like Sprite since they are items that most people can afford to have access to and do not think much about however in stating that, they are also a luxury that a lot of people do not have access to as well.
